” This nationwide celebration of poetry is for everyone: from assemblies, bus-queues, cafes, greengrocers, hospitals, ice-rinks to waiting-rooms, yacht clubs and zoos. It’s a day when poetry slips off its dust-jacket and takes to the streets. It’s a chance for people to use poetry to say things that can’t be said in prose” says their press release.
Poems of no more than 40 lines are sought from budding poets, young and old. The closing date is pretty close though – 25th Sept! The winner in the adult category will win a copy of the Forward Book of Poetry, and the winner in the children’s category will win ‘A Laureate’s Choice – 101 Poems for Children Chosen by Carol Ann Duffy’.
Entries should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by 25th September, and should have ‘Water Poem’ in the subject header.
Time to dust off my ‘Bumper Book of Terrible Rhymes’ then……
